Well, it's not really new, but it was new to me: I read _Tuesdays with Morrie_ this summer and loved it. I'm not normally one for sappy, feel-goody stuff, but I really enjoyed this book, probably b/c I agree with so many of Morrie's philosophies on life. It was a great book, and I hope to work it into my curriculum at some point in the future.

One of the ESL teachers in my school uses The 5 People You Meet in Heaven with her students. They love it. You could definitely work Tuesdays with Morrie into your curriculum!

One of my recent faves is Everything Bad is Good for You by Steven Johnson. I'm forever trying to defend the value of video gaming. Johnson does it so much better. He's also a witty writer.

Right now, I'm reading The Island at the Center of the World by Russell Shorto. It's a book about the colonization of NYC by the Dutch, whose history in NYC is overshadowed by the British colonization of the island. I'm learning a lot about the geographical history of NYC as well as its political history.
